Ganesha!!!

This past week has been the craziest in the past couple of months atleast!!..Its the festive season of Ganesh chaturthi and along with that a 10 days of running around to visit  'bappa' at different places!..Though its the same Bappa everywhere, i still feel something different and vibrant about every place I visit. It started with last Thursday where i visited all my friends who had ganesha at home only for one and a half days (how do they manage to bid him farewell in such a short time?? :'(  )). overloaded my stomach with savouries, at every place and in the end reached a saturation point where i couldn't have had another morsel!!.
I visited friends places all over Mumbai.. starting from my very own  Thane, Mulund, Dombivli, Ghatkopar, Bhayender, Andheri and all the 'pandals' in and around my college in Matunga!! ..oooh!!.I forgot to mention the Andheri satsang at some Boys hostel there!. It was the craziest and best of all i have ever attended! ( being a boys hostel, i got all the attention there...;) ) The guys there, (all of them being non AOL members) simply loved all the bhajans that we sang and ended up dancing to the tunes! :P  I was really impressed with their hospitality and service!.. I was meted out with a royal treatment where i was served the best of food. Apart from a few female volunteers there, I was the only girl and was made to feel like a queen for that one evening! ^_^
Ganesha's festive season is accompanied with the best of food that i have ever eaten..Modaks, pedas, puran polis, ahh.its uncountable!.. When I was a little kid, I asked my Grandfather, Why does Ganu have the face of an elephant?? :O...At that time, he told me the story of how ganesha was born. Parvati created him out of dirt from her body. She liked the idol so much that she blew life into it. Shiva did not know that the boy was his son and cut off his head. On realizing what he did, he placed the head of an elephant onto his body. Thus Ganesha, the elephant headed God  was born!..
And now its almost about time to bid farewell to bappa this year :( :( :'(.. But all I can do is wait for Him again next year till then it is.. Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudchya varshi lavkar ya!!! :D

Few things this festive season
I am sick of eating sweets..:/ :/
I would have put on atleast 2 kilos of weight.. :( thanks to eating so much..:'(
I am doing my 3rd Art of living course named the Sahaj Samadhi meditation just within a year of doing my basic course!!! :D
I have my economics textbook beside me, and i am confused where to start from...:/
BMM projects are getting the hell out of me now...arrghhhh...:@
I need to practice more for my arangetram :/ :/
Just a random thought that came by :
I am not pretty, I am not beautiful, I know i am not the girl your dream
But yet I have a pure heart which beats only for you!!

                                                                                                                           Regards

I meditate!! :)

A few days back I heard a few of these boys and girls talking...ahh..."what is meditation? how boring can it get? I can never concentrate!!" When i heard them, all i could think of was that they are missing out on something really awsome and nice. I used to feel the same about it before i did my yes+ course. I had these serious misconceptions about meditation which just vanished after i actually experienced it!..So putting my best of knowledge to use, i will make an attempt to clear certain fads about meditation!!
so firstly, What is meditation??
this is one question where different people have different answers to it. Some say its a way of concentrating, some say it has something to do with control over emtions n blah blah.
in simple words if i have to sum dis up, I would say meditation is simply De-concentrating!!..so you don't have to concentrate when you meditate!!..it has nothing to do with concentration..yea...one of the very great effects of meditation is concentration!!...so guys wake up..If you are concentrating that means you aren't meditating!!
How do we meditate?? Many of us have this in mind that we can go into meditation only when we sit with our back straight and hands on the knees facing the sky...true.. but this is only one of the many ways to meditate!! It is possible to go into meditation anytime and in any position!..you can meditate while listening to a song, you can meditate while lying down, It is a state when you are with yourself but are sub- consciously aware of your surroundings!.
Why meditation??? Do you really want to know?? ;) ;)
Well even I don't know how many reasons there are exactly to meditate!! but yea...i am going to list a few of them here!!
  • It gives you silence, inner peace
  • A chance to be only with yourself!! (alone not lonely!! there's a difference!! ;))
  • Helps to control emotions
  • Reduces stress levels
  • Reduces the probability of heart diseases
  • wards away negative thoughts and emotions
  • Reduces irritability
  • makes you feel happy :)
  • improves concentration levels
  • higher creativity levels
  • increases stamina
  • It lowers oxygen consumption
  • builds self confidence
  • Helps in weight loss
..............and the list goes on...If You want to know more about the benefits visit http://www.ineedmotivation.com/blog/2008/05/100-benefits-of-meditation/ !!
 Why do I meditate??
:) :)...i love to meditate because I don't mind spending sometime alone with myself!! :)..hehe..I think that sums it all up!! :) :D
The simplest way to meditate is just curl around in your favourite corner, close your eyes and just let the thoughts flow!..You may chant OM three times in the beginning. (the word OM has a deep meaning, will elaborate on that later )
So meditate for yourself, not for anything else. Experience the transformation yourself and you will realize!..be proud to say that I  meditate!! If you have any further questions, please feel free to mail me or post it on my blog! :) :)

JAI GURUDEV!!! :) :)

                                                                                                                                  Loads of love
                                                                                                                                   Preeti!! :)

I wish.........

Today I am in this whole writing mood!!..So i am going to make one more post for today! ( a bonus for my blog!!)..I found this poem that I had written long back buried in the archives in my phone and so I thought i should just post it!!...I had written it when i had a heartbreak :( :(..So here it goes:

I wish i could hug you when i wanted to,
I wish i could hold you tight and never let you go away from my embrace,
I wish I could kiss you when you said something cute to me,
I wish you could lend me your shoulder when i wanted to cry,
I wish I could hold your hand and walk in the rains,
I wish you belonged to me, just the way i have this whole sense of belonging to you,
I wish I could have you all to myself,
I wish you loved me the way i love you
I wish I had the guts to tell you, how much i love you,
I wish.......................

Good night guys!!...take care!! :).

All that matters!!

I thought i am getting really inactive on my blog, and i should start posting often now!....so this post is simply dedicated to all those things that make me happy..:)..
Off late i have been experiencing these terrible mood swings, taking me from the happiest of moods to the saddest of them all..(the reason behind this is still unknown, so if u guys have any suggestions then please do let me know!! ;) )..I had been told by someone that I whenever i feel sad i should think about the 1001 reasons I have, to be happy! So I thought i should be listing these so called not 1001 ( actually thats a bit too much!!) but few of the many things that make me happy! so here it is,
  • my amma, (thats what i call my mum)..no one in this universe can love me more than her..She is one of the biggest reason behind my smile!!
  • Dancing, one of my biggest ever passions..i just love it!! ^_^..Its really surprising, when i enter my dance class with a completely low, sad face and how it changes to the best of my moods ever!!
  • the fact that I have such amazing friends with me, who always support me when i need them, encouraging me to do the dumbest things on earth, hitting me, troubling me, and also taking care of me!
  • Music, (I am a trained singer too ;) )..which connects me with the divine, spirituality is really awsome!! :)
  • the chocolate sandwich which I have with my college friends after the boring lectures!, someday that guy subhash will have the best business of sandwiches in the world!! ;)...he ROCKS!!
  • the fact that i will be doing my arangetram in 3 months!! ( arangetram is a solo stage performance  done after completing a particular dance style..mine is bharatanatyam!! ) and i will get royal treatment for that one day!!
  • one text message from that special one!! :) :))
  • One of the most important reasons is that i have the best Guru in my life!!, I can feel his presence everywhere, within and beyond me, his thought takes me to a different world altogether!!
  • the fact, that i am doin BMM after slogging my ass out doing science for 2 years in junior college..finally i am satisfied that i am doing something that i like to do!! :)
  • the pleasure I derive out of the dance classes i take for the small kids!..aww...they are all so cute!! and they dance like those small plastic dolls I had some years back!! ;)
  • ohh yea..this blog, where can i vent out all my emotions without any hesitations!!
phewww....i think i should stop now, the list might just go on and on!!.. So now I hav a written proof of all those things that make happy....I am sure all of u guys also do have these moments!!..don't you ???

Love
preeti!!

A bond of love...and more!!

Today is Raksha Bandhan...a day dedicated to all brothers and sisters..On this day, the sister ties the rakhi to her brother's wrist and the brother in turn promises to protect and take care of her for the rest of his life..(this is the version of raksha bandhan which my grandparents told me about! ;) )..Nowadays, sisters tie a 'rakhi' to their brothers and the brother supposedly has his pocket empty buying a gift for his sister :P...
I don't have any real brother..but i do have 2 cousin brothers, younger to me. As the ritual, every year i tie a rakhi to these two devils. When we were younger, it was more of an amusement for all three of us. We never understood the bond that we shared. We have grown up playing together, pulling each other's leg, doing the weirdest things and hell lot of masti!!.. Like any brother would, The two of them would keep irritating me everytime...doing all those things which would get me angry! :@.. Everytime we met, it would turn out to be a battleground, where there have been incidents of tvs breaking, walls being deprived of paints :P, volcanoes errupting (ohk..this is one of those dummy volcanoes which we can create at home using soda and vinegar! :D )the bed turns into a table tennis court :P...and lots and lots of things!!
So, every year i tie a rakhi to them and they gift something..be it chcolates, bags, watch, clothes, money..But this year, I was shocked with the gifts i got..When i opened the bag, i saw there were 2 packets of maida, 2 packets of atta, and a packet of jaggery!!..:P..I was in for a big shock!..That was when my brothers told me that they want me to learn to cook and make pakodas out of the ingredients they gave me!!..I was highly impressed by the way these two DEVILS told me this!..I wouldn't have taken them seriously if they would have some and told me to learn cooking. What i liked best was the way they conveyed it to me!..and off course, i did get CADBURY'S CELEBRATIONS and a perfume ( selected by my brothers..which is very surprsing :/ )
I am so proud of India and its culture about having 1 whole day dedicated for the brother and sister and that the tradition continues upto today!.. I love you both Rishabh and Kedar..And i am sure you will do a great job in taking care of this 'deedee' of yours, when we grow old!! :) :)

P.S. I will surely join some cooking classes and learn to cook at the earliest!! :P

          •  and offcourse....the time i have spent till now with my newly made BMM friends!..those gossip sessions in the train, waiting for each other at the station, bitching  *winks*...hope for a lot more sessions like that in the future!!

            Overcoming barriers....

I went for this three and a half day couse of the Art of living...DSN...its fullform is divya samaj ka nirman...but we call it dont say no..because thats what its all about!...we cant say no!..
In this three and a half days i have lived a new life!.. i feel so complete withinn myself.. its true..Spirituality takes u to a different world!..Just a week back i couldn't even imagine talking to a random stranger..But now its just like talking to one of my buddies..DSN is a total life changer..A totally new experience..I learnt a hell lot of things..Yogas postures, meditation, performed the most ridiculous and whacky tasks! (hats off to the person who thought of these tasks! ) and a lot of knowledge..The course was under the two most awsome guys on earth. BAWA and DINESH (both IITians!! :) )...i haven't met two people like them!!...they are just amzing..Bawa is witty, clever, humoruous, arrogant, strict...and Dinesh is the exact opposite..he is the most loving guy i have ever seen..And his smile!!..ahh lovely!! :D..He has got a voice that i could die for!..The one round of Padmasadhna taken by him was the best! (Padmasadhna is something that i learnt at the course)..And yea..i learnt a fact about relationships from Dinesh da..and i totally love him for that smile he gave me after what he said about relationships!
I met some really awsome people in the course who were my group members...Within three days we formed such a deep bond..We worked together all this while and reached the 2nd position from the 7th position!!..My group also won the title of DSN stars!! ( and we will very soon recieve out DSN stars t-shirt!! :) ) The tasks were a lot of fun and we did a lot of social help..in one the tasks we had to get 5 people to donate blood...we also sold these plants with a wierd name..LAXMITARU,...it has mosquito repellant properties! (that was my marketing strategy ;) )..ohh yea,..and we also got this task of creating a new blog with 5 posts in it!!..i dint know dat i could post so soon!...i am not supposed to reveal anymore ;)..
So for people who want to know more..please do the basic YES+ course!!..It is really amazing..Do it and experience it yourself!..Feel the change and positivity within you!

P.S. thanks to Guruji for being by my side throughout this course...without him it wouldn't have been possible!
The Satsang singer was atrocious!..i wish i could snatch the mike from him and sing! ;)

                                                                             JAI GURUDEV!!!!

            Wednesday 27 July 2011

            Not that special!!

Today wasn't one of those special days that 's going to be etched in my memory forever...but ya..something made it 'not one of those regular days!'... and the credit goes completely to my newly made college friends..
well honestly, when i first entered the FYBMM class in Ruia, i never thought i would  find the kind of friends i made in school or junior college ( i luv u all guys!! ;) )...But i was proved wrong!!..I knew a few people...2 to be precise (thanks to Art of living and Guruji for that! )..rupali and apoorva...I made some awsome friends within these two weeks of college..Everyday we explore some new places to EAT!..Today we had some awsome chaat and a DAIRY MILK SILK..(which was divided among the six of us... : / ) While travelling back home, i realized how crazy and uncontrollable a bunch of girls can get!...we played the most randomest games on earth!!...Something called word..ummm...i dun remember! (Rutika s idea!! ;) )...so the game goes like, one person starts off with a word and then the next person says a word in relation to the previous word...and the next person continues and so on...We started with the word MAGGI!!...n ended up with politics!! :D :D..(dont ask me about the intermediate words...they were ridiculous! :P)...And then somehow we came with the random idea of singing medleys!..And believe me it turned into something very amusing!...The lady beside us also started singing songs along with us! :D..Amplifier in the gujrati version was the cherry on the cake!..(oohh...i missed a very important thing.. .there was this couple in the opposite bogie who had slept off...ohk..i am not elaborating further on this!! :D)
The day ended with me and my best friend (pinku) going to CAD B where we had some of the most 'calorie infected foods'...(both of us are on diet, SUPPOSEDLY!!! ;) )...There s nothing like having bhutta (corn) in the rains!!....ummmm...too much for a day na??
this day, not very special though, but is going to surely be memorable!..
            P.S.
Appu...we missed you a lot...wish you were there with us!
Made some awsome friends in college..Rupali, apoorva, Rutika, Shrutika, Trishna, and ummm..Tanushree..(tanu :P)
Rutika you are one hungry lump!! :D
Gaadi ma mari besi jaa chokri, hu cake khava jaiye bakery!! :P :P...haha...:D

            signing off!!
            Preeti!! :)

            Tuesday 26 July 2011

            Love!!!

Like any other teenage girl, I too have my own fantasy land where off course, i am the princess!!! Where I have my own apartment, beside the sea, where there s a garden full of my favourite red roses!..and ya..any fairy tale would be incomplete without a prince charming!...so mine too has a prince..(though not the handsome kind, but very charming! "winks")...Everything seems so perfect in this 'dream world' !!
When I spoke to him for the first time, i didn't have the slightest clue that over this period of two and a half years..(two years and 3 months to be precise.."winks again") he would be the most important thing to me!..the most influential person in my life, my world, my everything!..There was something in him that was really attractive. something, i hadn't seen with my 'guy friends' i had earlier..something really nice. something really appealing...There wouldn't be a single day when we wouldn't call each other or text. The chats would range from hey!..how ws your day?? to.......( okay...i am not revealing that..;) ) If any day I didnt recieve a text from him, i would become all restless and start assuming things which ended up in tears flowing out of my eyes..:'( Even one small text or a forward of his, puts the widest smile across my face!! i would find myself smiling like and idiot in the train on recieving his text!! ( i wonder what people around would be thinking :O)
Somewhere between these endless chats, silly fights and 'nonsensical sense'! that we spoke had me fall in love with him!! Wow!!..seems so awsome na?? but..not so awsome for me. one sided love always calls for disasters!!..so.......okay...It took me time (umm... a hell lot of time..u can ask my best friend about that! ) to 'GET OVER' him..When i look back at it, it just seems like one rough phase which eventually passed away...What matters now to me is that we still continue to be the same old friends we used to be!! ya...it was wierd for the first few days. But then eventually both of us are back on track!! : D...
Okay...honestly, i still luv him and will always love him for what he is, for the friend he is to me, for all that sweet care of his, those cute talks of his!...and the list goes on!!....and every time i see him i do have those butterflies flying all over my stomach!!! :)..Every single day, makes me fall in love with him again and again!!..awww!!...^_^

            Thursday 23 June 2011

We laughed together, we wept together.
We smiled though the most difficult times,
We kicked each other, We hugged each other,
We were always there for each other.
At times, we hated each other, but that was not more than what we loved each other.
We poked fun at each other, we quarreled with each other
When tears rolled down my cheek, she would be there to wipe them off,
She s always the first one i think of when i am happy,
She s always the first one i think of when i feel low,
She s my twin soul, she s my partner in crime,
I feel this whole connection to her which tells me that i am incomplete without her.
She s more than a best friend to me, a SOUL SISTER!!
I really didn't bother much about people entering and leaving my life because i knew that she was always there for me.
Our friendship did go through some rough patches. but, wht's friendship without fights?? it strengthened out bond even more!!
This one is dedicated to you, pinku (Priyanka Wani) for being in my life and making it worthwhile! You mean a lot to me. Thanks a lot!

            dancing away..

I love to dance. I have been learning the Indian Classical art form of Bharatanatyam for 8 years now! In the early days of training i only took it as a hobby. But as the years passed by, i soon realized that it just didn't remain a hobby; but it is my passion now. Bharatanatyam is one of the most authentic and ancient dance forms of India. It originated in the state of Tamil nadu in India. Centuries ago, dancers would perform in the royal courts of kings. This dance form was developed further and made known to the world as Bharatanatyam. In the recent times, It has gained a lot of popularity both in India and abroad.
Along with my passion for dance, I have been blessed with an amazing guru (teacher), who has guided me, corrected me, scolded me and also appreciated me. To any layman, Bharatanatyam might just be a form of dance, but for me it is a way of connecting to my inner self and to the divine. I wish to pursue dancing along with my academics even further in life.Whenever i dance, it makes me commit deeper and deeper towards this art form! I can truely call Bharatanatyam my first love and will remain so all through my life!
